Share meltdown not people melt down!
With the volatility of the share market in recent times, many people are experiencing re-occurring stress/anxiety attacks. This is happening to both advisers and investors alike. Our body reacts to stress the same way each time, unless the brain is given a different option or choice. Our brains are the inbuilt computer banks of our lives and they record and store every event, sequence of events and outcome of events, emotion, and details for use at another time. When a similar issue or challenge arises, it searches the memory banks to find the previous times and the solution it used.
The body is also amazing how it responds to danger, by accessing the Autonomic nervous system (ANS) via what is commonly known as adrenal response or flight/fight response. This is a basic survival response and it does not require the ability to think, just run or fight! When a person goes into adrenal response and does not let the shock go, it acts like a ratchet affect and gets tighter and tighter. This limits a person ability to come up with a better or new response. This cascade affect in turn can result in a major health issue like Chronic Fatigue, PTSD, Stress/Anxiety Attacks, Cancer, Blood pressure to name but a few.
Help is at hand. As wonderful as the brain is, it cannot always depict what is real or imagined, so it is possible to implant a different final scenario to that memory bank. With the use of visualization techniques, a person can project a more favourable outcome or solution to the stressful challenge. It is the same style of techniques used by many coaches of prime athlete/sports persons, they are goal based, and include a more desired outcome. One natural therapy that uses Emotional Stress Release and Visualization as a form of stress management techniques is kinesiology. It is a modality that incorporates Ancient Chinese Concepts coupled with Modern Western Knowledge and works on ensuring the emotional, physical and chemical aspects of life are in harmony.
In the situation of the Financial Adviser reacting to a sudden downturn on the stock market, it is not the actual event that causes them the stress or feel unwell. It is generally the remembered or emotional trauma trigger of a previous event that is the cause. By being able to identify the actual emotion word trigger and where in the body it is being activated, a solution or result can be achieved. Instead of reacting to the trauma trigger, they can act, with thought. It gives the person the opportunity to come up with a different result by being able to step back from the stress and think.
Kinesiology is being used by many businesses to assist with work/life balance solutions, health and well being programs and by alleviating time away from work due to stress leave. People who are not feeling stressed and are happy are less inclined to become ill and they perform and function better in the workplace.
At Kinique Consultancy, we love to help our clients cope better with stress by providing solutions to their stress triggers. This ensures they can perform their work more easily and happily.
